The property, currently used as Genio Pontieri’s military barracks (Filippo Nicolai) consists of the former Benedictine Monastery ‘San Sisto’, which dates back to the IX century. It was later rebuilt in 1550 and secondary buildings were added at the beginning of the XX century. The complex extends over a surface of 40,000 m² for a total coverage of 14,200 m² of GFA. It includes 14 buildings. The prospective buyer shall carry out all necessary procedures to transfer the current function of the property to a different Defence structure, in case it had not been done already by the State Property Office.

The property is located in the old centre of Piacenza (102,269 inhabitants), capital of the homonymous province (288,013 inhabitants) and the 9th city of the Region ‘Emilia-Romagna’ in terms of residents. The property, the former Convent of San Sisto, is located in the north quadrant of the city, inside the historic city walls, near Palazzo Farnese which hosts the civic museums, within the area including Piazza San Casali, Piazza della Cittadella, Largo Brigata Piacenza, and San Sisto church. The area corresponds to the tourist centre of the city, which is visited each year by thousands of tourists. It hosts many monuments, museums and historic-cultural sites. The area is well served by public transport and by the railway. The station is 1.3 km away on foot. The city, lapped by the Po River, has good vehicular accessibility, both through the state road SS 9 (Via Emilia) and through the motorway “A-21” (Torino-Brescia) and “A-1” (Napoli Milano), with two toll gates quite close to the city.
