Thanks to the new territorial agreement, the area of Altedo is destined to become an important logistics hub in the Bologna area. The planned construction of a new logistics centre will provide 500 new jobs. The remaining available lots are particularly suited to logistics functions, given the area’s strategic location and proximity to the A13 motorway. Other sectors suited to the area include: manufacturing, craft and industrial activities and other related functions. The Altedo area is home to approximately 110 small and small-medium companies most of which are part of the manufacturing industry. In addition, two companies that specialise in metal treatment and coating, paper production companies and numerous companies from the construction sector have settled in the area.

The area is located between the municipalities of Malalbergo and Bentivoglio, near the hamlet of Altedo and A13 motorway tollbooth of the same name. Proximity to the motorway and two of the region’s important cities, Bologna and Ferrara, makes the area of particular interest.
The area is traversed by the A13 motorway (which connects Bologna-Ferrara-Venice/Mestre) on the north-south axis and Provincial Road 47 in an east-west direction.
The nearest railway station is San Pietro in Casale, which is approximately 6 km away and has a daily frequency of 33 trains that connect Bologna - San Pietro in Casale every 25-30 minutes during peak times.

The area is covered by urban planning tools at a supra-municipal and municipal level.

An Urban Implementation Plan due to expire in 2020 was approved for a portion of the area of approximately 9 ha, located in the municipality of Malalbergo. If no variation is made to the Urban Implementation Plan, only a Building Permit would be required for that portion.

Possible transformation
With the exception of the portion subject to the Urban Implementation Plan, the following process can be envisaged for the area:
1. Possible variation to general urban planning;
2. Operational agreement or other urban implementation tool;
3. Application for building permits and other permits (if necessary).

Please note that in some cases, points 2 and 3 can occur simultaneously.
